Investment Technology
This position is part of our Programming team which develops and maintains First Quadrant’s in-house business applications. Although we use Java extensively in our code base and many of our projects are in Python, we are flexible and use whatever technology best meets our needs. Our business applications pertain to such areas as Trading, Portfolio Accounting, Marketing, and provide excellent exposure to finance.
In this role, the incumbent will:
- Design, modify, develop, write, test, implement and integrate software programming applications and solutions.
- Support and/or install software applications.
- Consult with users to define requirements, identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
- Write documentation to describe program development, logic, coding and corrections.
- Rely on experience, judgment and senior developer guidance to plan and accomplish goals.
- Write clean, well commented, reusable code and be comfortable owning the code throughout its life cycle (i.e., user requirements, development, testing and implementation).
- Develop software for and deploying software to a Unix environment.
- BS in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Strong software design and engineering skills.
- Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.
- Proficient with Java, Python, or related languages – e.g., EJB3, Ruby, C++, C#, Haskell.
SENIOR LINUX/UNIX ADMINISTRATOR
Information Technology
The Linux/UNIX Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, support and security of Linux (RedHat/Fedora/CentOS or similar OS) systems and UNIX (Sun Solaris)
In this role, the incumbent will:
- Responsible for Solaris 10 and Linux Red Hat/Fedora/CentOS administration, including OS software installation and configuration and fundamentals of system security.
- Leads complex projects.
- Works closely with developers and programmers to maintain a working environment for software development and deployment to a UNIX environment.
- At least five years of hands-on systems and network administration experience in the UNIX/LINUX acquired in a corporate or university setting.
- Experience with Relational Databases (MySQL, Sybase).
- Must have installed new releases of operating systems and utility software, independently resolved systems problems of moderate to severe complexity, and dealt effectively with vendor support staff.
- Must have worked with key Internet technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP and FTP.
- Knowledge of primary area of responsibility should be adequate to attain advanced professional certifications such as those offered by CISCO, Sun and Microsoft.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from a four-year college or university is preferred.
- Knowledge of NetApp and enterprise backup solutions is preferred.

PORTFOLIO ENGINEER
Portfolio Engineering Group
This position will work with the Director of Trade Operations on special projects that will result in increased efficiency in our trade operations and support. This person will also work with other areas of the firm including investment research, trading, risk, investment technology and compliance.
In this role, the incumbent will:
- Optimize portfolios through internal portfolio management system.
- Select futures and FX trades for implementation.
- Resolve trade discrepancies with counterparties and operations group.
- Manage collateral for hedge funds and separately managed accounts.
- Monitor portfolios to assure that investment and risk guidelines are being met.
- Collaborate with Investment Technology Team on system improvements.
- Other special projects assigned by Director of Trade Operations and Research.
- Bachelor degree in business or related studies is preferred.
- Experience in a middle office or execution trading role, preferably on the buy-side.
- In-depth understanding of global futures and/or FX markets.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg API skills; ability to learn multiple systems in a relatively short time period
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment

MARKETING ASSOCIATE
Marketing and Client Services
The Marketing Associate assists in the entire scope of the business development effort which includes responding to requests for proposals (RFPs), maintaining consultant databases, preparation of analytics and marketing materials, and other special projects driven by client/prospect requests.
In this role, the incumbent will:
- Autonomously work to complete Request for Proposals (RFPs) and a variety of different types of questionnaires from prospects, clients and consultants.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the RFP response database.
- Works closely with:
- Research, Accounting, Risk Office, Client Service, Sales, Consultant Relations, Compliance and Trading to keep abreast of current processes, procedures, and firm initiatives.
- Research and various external providers to obtain and maintain performance and other highly specialized sets of data and information.
- A team of sales professionals in various offices locally and abroad to support the global business development efforts.
- Other Marketing Associates.
- Populate consultant databases routinely and work closely with consultants to ensure the timely receipt and dissemination of information.
- Prepare analytical information, including charts and graphs for use in fact sheets and standard marketing presentations.
- Have an understanding of AIMR/GIPs compliance standards and integrate principles into everyday workflow.
- Respond to incoming calls and emails from global prospects and consultants in a timely and efficient manner. Shepherd opportunities to a final decision point autonomously.
- Extreme attention to detail is a must.
- Overtime may be required at times.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Three years of work experience in the asset management industry is preferred.
- MBA/CFA a plus.
